Volunteer roles

WYCE Gambia is managed by Gambians who work closely with the local communities in which we operate. Although we welcome volunteers with a wide range of personal and professional skills, the community of Madina Salam would especially welcome volunteers with the following skills (please let us know on your booking form).

  Education
  • Qualified teachers (especially primary specialists) for teacher training and delivering CPD.

  • SEN specialists to advise on best practice at primary level.

  • TAs or HLTAs

  • Sports coaches (especially football)

  • EFL specialists (especially adult ESL specialists)

  • General roles - paired/ shared reading, producing teaching resources/displays, improving the learning environment, sports/games assistants, giving talks/demonstrations of hobbies/interests e.g. art, crafts, practical skills, office/admin support for headteacher.

  Health
  • Qualified health professionals both general and specialist - doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, opticians etc

  • Trainee/Student health professionals

  • Community health workers

  • Other health personnel e.g. admin, records, support roles, managers

  • General roles - admin, record keeping, designing and creating health promotion materials, data collection e.g. recording height and weight of school children

  Livelihoods

Any experience of the following skills that you can share:

  • Electrical (especially solar)

  • Bicycle mechanics

  • Motor mechanics

  • Building

  • Carpentry

  • Horticulture/agriculture

  • Accountancy

  • Business admin/management

  • Catering
