Code of Conduct
We want all of our volunteers to have a meaningful and rewarding experience. WYCE delivers essential services for the people of Madina Salam and the surrounding area; we have built good relationships with the communities over time, and volunteers play a key part in our work. Volunteers are expected to behave and conduct themselves in a manner that respects fellow volunteers, WYCE staff, the local community and the aims and ethos of WYCE. We therefore ask that all volunteers agree to the following code of conduct.
During the programme please:
At all times, behave and conduct yourself in a manner that treats everyone (fellow volunteers, WYCE staff, the local community) equally and with respect, regardless of any difference and in a manner which respects the aims and ethos of WYCE
Observe local dress code and cultural norms of The Gambia whilst working as a volunteer outside the WYCE compound
Recognise that you are primarily responsible for your day-to-day well-being and security, but please listen to the advice and guidance of WYCE Gambia staff with regard to issues of safety and security.
Treat as confidential any information about WYCE, members of staff, school pupils or patients that you have access to during your visit
Make all donations (cash or materials) and conduct all financial transactions via the WYCE Gambia office, so that we can ensure all resources are properly accounted for and managed
Let a member of the WYCE management team know as soon as possible if there is a problem, or something happens that you are not comfortable with – we would prefer to sort things there and then.
We reserve the right to use on our website or other publicity materials any photos or video that you give to a WYCE staff member
Please make sure that you have the permission of any person featuring in a photograph or video provided to us
Please let us know at the start of your visit if you do not want us to use any photos that are taken of you in our publicity.
AGREEMENT By signing the Application form, you are confirming that you understand and agree to abide by the WYCE Code of Conduct.
